Workplace & Industry Context

Through the Letitu visit, I was able to learn more about the Educational Technology field, as well as AI usage and how it's maintained to not take over workers, but rather how it assists companies in general. Before this visit, I hadn’t considered EdTech as a possible career path, but the experience opened my eyes to its potential. Letitu focuses on personalizing college and university admissions for students aspiring to join a certain field/major, as well as advising on extracurricular activities that align with their goals.

Since Letitu had relocated to a new building the day before our visit, the space itself felt very fresh and modern. I noticed that the workers technically shared one big space instead of being isolated, even for executives. This layout reflected an atmosphere of collaboration and equality within the company. Through this observation, I noticed that the workers were very friendly– not only towards us, but to each other as well. Additionally, the quiet and focused environment conveyed the employee’s professionalism and dedication to their responsibilities.

Platform Overview

Section by: Joelle Kim

The company Letitu has developed a unique AI platform called The Pond, designed to guide students through the overwhelming college admissions process. It was inspiring to see how advanced technology can be used to address students and guide their college admissions process, but also support other struggles they experience in life.

As students, we often feel the pressure of balancing academics, extracurriculars, and standardized testing. Due to such struggles, I personally thought that Letitu’s platform is an incredibly helpful and innovative creation. The Pond helps students make the most of their limited time by processing over 70,000 data points from diverse student backgrounds, enabling rapid, individualized analysis and recommendations. It offers personalized suggestions based on individual profiles and preferences very efficiently, which can greatly benefit many high schoolers, including me, who struggle with managing academics, extracurricular activities, and sports, all while trying to find a college that truly fits us.

Interview Insights

Section by: Lauren Park

The interviews provided valuable insights about both the vision behind the company and its technical aspects. For instance, the tech project manager, Mr. Toby Park, shared how Letitu implements human oversight to maintain accuracy and minimize bias: counselors review AI-generated recommendations, adjust for sensitive student information, and ensure contextual relevance. prevented inaccuracies in AI through integrating human oversight to overrule AI-generated results if needed. He also explained how encryption is used to protect students’ data, highlighting the company’s commitment to user protection and safety. The company also maintains a QA system to continuously monitor AI outputs and employs encryption, anonymized student IDs, and restricted access domains to ensure data security and privacy compliance. Mr. Dahun Lee, CEO of Letitu Corps, told us more about his vision behind The Pond—how its AI-based recommendations weren’t meant to erase human counseling, but rather to be used as a tool alongside it.

Overall Reflection

What struck us most, however, was how personal stories blended with professional insights, especially when the team members shared their individual career paths. During interviews, the employees explained that they had not followed routes that were perfectly planned but instead discovered opportunities through curiosity and persistence; more of an accidental discovery than intended from the beginning. Their advice for students–to explore freely and to accept failures as the progress of learning experiences–felt deeply encouraging.

Personally, the visit expanded our understanding of future careers, especially in the fields of education and technology. This made us reflect on our own journey and how tools such as The Pond could help us strategically plan for the future while still pursuing activities we enjoy.
